Porter Airlines is expanding its reach by introducing jet service to LaGuardia Airport (LGA) in New York, marking a significant change after several years of exclusively operating from Newark.
Starting May 1, travelers can look forward to up to three daily round-trip flights connecting Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) with LGA.
Porter will operate from LaGuardia’s acclaimed Terminal B, providing eligible passengers access to premium departure lounges, including the American Express Centurion Lounge and Chase’s Sapphire Lounge by The Club.

The new LaGuardia flights are strategically scheduled to facilitate convenient connections to Porter’s domestic Canadian destinations, such as Edmonton, Saskatoon, and Vancouver. Additionally, the airline will benefit from its interline partnership with JetBlue, enhancing connectivity from LaGuardia.
Frequent flyers with Porter can earn miles with Alaska Airlines or accrue points on Porter flights.
The route will feature Porter’s new 132-seat Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, known for its 2-2 seating arrangement and complimentary Wi-Fi.

Onboard, passengers can expect a selection of premium snacks, along with complimentary beer and wine served in glassware.
Porter has been linking Toronto with the New York City area since 2008 through Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), offering direct flights to the more centrally located Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (YTZ) using De Havilland Dash 8-400 turboprop aircraft.
Notably, to launch the new flights at the limited-capacity LGA, Porter needed to acquire slots—permissions for take-offs and landings. Airlines cannot simply acquire these slots on the open market, which likely means Porter arranged a lease agreement with another airline for the necessary slots, potentially JetBlue, their interline partner.
“Over the past 15 years, we’ve established a strong passenger foundation connecting Canada and the New York metro area. The addition of LaGuardia to our network provides greater options for our current customers and the potential to attract new ones within the busiest air travel corridor between Canada and the U.S.,” stated Andrew Pierce, Porter’s vice president of network planning and reporting.
