The enticing 100,000-point welcome bonus on the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card (see rates and fees) is definitely one to seize.
If you applied for this card just weeks before the latest offer launched on April 3, don’t lose hope.
We’ve heard from several readers on our Instagram who successfully matched their offers after applying before the new bonus was available.
While the new requirement is $5,000 in spending (up from $4,000), the extra points make this effort worthwhile.
Additionally, this is your final opportunity to take advantage of the elevated offer, ending on May 15 at 9 a.m. EDT. Act quickly to secure these bonus points—here’s everything you need to know.
Current Chase Sapphire Preferred Bonus
For a limited time, you can earn 100,000 bonus Ultimate Rewards points after spending $5,000 on purchases within the first three months from opening your account.
This bonus is valued at approximately $2,050 toward travel, based on our May 2025 assessments.
The Sapphire Preferred has only had a 100,000-point welcome bonus once in the past eight years. Given that, now is a great time to consider getting this card, especially since the elevated offer expires soon.

What to Do if You Applied Before the 100K Offer
If you applied for the Sapphire Preferred before the 100,000-point bonus launched on April 3, you can reach out to Chase for an offer match. Call the number on your card or send a secure message through your online account. Results may vary, but it’s worth asking.
If Chase approves your request, your spending requirement will adjust from $4,000 over three months to the new $5,000 requirement for the bonus.
Who is Eligible for the Sapphire Preferred Bonus?
Chase’s eligibility criteria for the Sapphire Preferred are as follows:
This product is not available to (i) current cardmembers of any Sapphire credit card, or (ii) previous cardmembers who received a new cardmember bonus within the past 48 months.
Thus, if you haven’t earned a bonus on the Sapphire Preferred or Chase Sapphire Reserve® (see rates and fees) in the last 48 months, you are likely eligible for the 100,000-point offer.
Be mindful of Chase’s 5/24 rule, which may deny applications for those who have opened five or more personal credit cards in the last two years.
A credit score of approximately 670 or higher is also recommended for the best chance of approval.
Bottom Line
If you applied for the Sapphire Preferred shortly before the 100,000-point bonus became available, consider asking Chase for a matching offer. While success isn’t guaranteed, it’s definitely worth trying. Remember, this is the last chance to earn the bonus before it ends on May 15.
The spending requirement will increase from $4,000 to $5,000, so if you receive a match, ensure you can meet the new requirement.
Don’t be disheartened if you thought you missed out—there may still be hope!
