The American Express® Gold Card is a favorite among Flying Frugal team members, recognized as one of the premier rewards cards for dining and spending at U.S. supermarkets.

This card offers various dining-related statement credits for an annual fee of $325 (see rates and fees).

Let’s explore why you should consider adding the Amex Gold to your wallet.

American Express Gold Welcome Offer

Check your eligibility for an enticing offer that can provide up to 100,000 Membership Rewards points when you spend $6,000 on eligible purchases within your first six months of card membership. Note that welcome offers vary, and eligibility may differ by individual.

This welcome offer can be valued at up to $2,000, based on Flying Frugal’s June 2025 evaluations.

The Amex Gold is the second American Express card to launch a targeted offer; last week, The Platinum Card® from American Express introduced a similar promotion, offering up to 175,000 bonus points after spending $8,000 in the first six months. Keep in mind that welcome offers may differ, and eligibility is not guaranteed.
