The highly anticipated Atmos Rewards program from Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines officially launched in August, bringing with it a variety of hidden perks and a novel approach to earning points and elite status. While new benefits and changes have been introduced compared to the previous Mileage Plan, the program will still rely on Alaska’s established award chart.

If you’re curious about how to earn Atmos Rewards points for your upcoming rewards, read on for more details.

Keep in mind that Hawaiian Airlines will fully integrate into the Atmos Rewards program starting October 1.

How to Earn Atmos Rewards Points by Flying

Alaska Airlines collaborates with over 30 airlines, including members of the Oneworld alliance, allowing you to earn Atmos Rewards points with these partners. However, a few partners do not provide Atmos Rewards award redemption options.

Currently, the Atmos Rewards program uses a distance-based points-earning structure, with plans to introduce two additional earning methods in 2026, allowing members to choose their preferred approach:

  • Distance-based: Earn 1 point per mile flown (including award redemptions).
  • Spending-based: Earn 5 points per dollar spent on flights.
  • Segment-based: Earn 500 points per segment flown.

Points will be awarded based on the current earning charts, depending on the airline operating the flight and the booking platform used. Premium fare classes accrue bonus points beyond the standard 100% base points, while basic economy tickets (fare classes X or U) will earn only 30% of the base points.

For example, if you book a one-way nonstop Alaska Airlines flight from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) to John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), covering a distance of approximately 2,421 miles in economy fare class Y for $200 on alaskaair.com, here’s what you could earn based on your selected points-earning method:

  • Distance-based: 3,632 points (150% of your flown miles)
  • Spending-based: 1,500 points (5 points per dollar spent)
  • Segment-based: 500 points (500 points per segment)

Choosing the most beneficial earning method can impact your travel significantly. For instance, if you primarily take short domestic flights under 500 miles, the segment-based method might yield better rewards. Conversely, frequent cash ticket bookers or those with an Atmos Rewards cobranded credit card may benefit more from the spending-based option, while long-haul flyers could prefer the distance-based earning.

You can update your earning method, which also affects how you accumulate elite status, up to once a year, with the spending-based option as the default.

Gain Bonus Points with Elite Status

All elite Atmos Rewards members receive bonus points on flights, including those with Alaska’s 30+ partner airlines. The bonus amount varies by loyalty tier:

  • Atmos Silver: 25% bonus points
  • Atmos Gold: 50% bonus points
  • Atmos Platinum: 100% bonus points
  • Atmos Titanium: 150% bonus points

Alongside the new loyalty program, Alaska recently refreshed its cobranded credit cards, including a premium option. These cards provide a generous welcome bonus of Atmos Rewards points and a valuable companion certificate, plus you’ll earn points on everyday purchases.

Here’s a breakdown of the three Atmos Rewards credit card offers:

Although Hawaiian Airlines’ HawaiianMiles will fully merge with Atmos Rewards on October 1, they currently offer two credit card options. Hawaiian miles can be transferred to Atmos Rewards at a 1:1 rate, and post-transition all remaining Hawaiian miles will convert to Atmos Rewards points.

Here are the Hawaiian card offers:

Transfer Atmos Rewards Points

Alaska Airlines’ transfer partners remain unchanged. You can still transfer points from Bilt Rewards and Marriott Bonvoy, with new features allowing point sharing among friends and family members.

Currently, HawaiianMiles can still be converted to Atmos Rewards at a 1:1 ratio, and the HawaiianMiles program will officially transition on October 1, seamlessly transferring remaining miles into your Atmos Rewards account.

Transfer from Bilt Rewards

Bilt Rewards members can convert Bilt Points to Atmos Rewards at a 1:1 ratio, though these transfers do not qualify for Atmos status points.

If you hold the Atmos Rewards Summit or Atmos Rewards Ascent card, you can earn 3 Atmos Rewards points for every dollar spent on eligible rent through Bilt, up to $50,000 annually (terms apply).

Related: Alaska Airlines continues its partnership with Bilt — but don’t expect new transfer partners soon.

Transfer from Marriott Bonvoy

Marriott Bonvoy members may transfer points to Alaska Airlines at a 3:1 ratio, plus a bonus of 5,000 miles for every 60,000 points transferred.

Even though the 3:1 ratio may not offer the best value, there are cases where converting Marriott points into airline miles could be advantageous.

Pool Atmos Rewards Points with Family and Friends

You can transfer Atmos Rewards points to friends and family, although there’s a fee of $10 per 1,000 points transferred. This could be worthwhile for small transfers but may accumulate quickly for larger ones.

If pooling points is essential for you, consider applying for the Atmos Rewards Summit card, which allows unlimited point transfers among up to 10 members at no additional charge.

Business Rewards with EasyBiz

Alaska’s EasyBiz program enables businesses to earn Atmos Rewards points for employee travel in addition to what employees earn personally. If you had an EasyBiz or Hawaiian Airlines Corporate Travel account prior to the Atmos Rewards launch, your miles are now converted to Atmos Rewards points.

With EasyBiz, companies earn 1 Atmos Rewards point per dollar on base airfare, along with benefits like 24-hour reservation holds, ticket reports, and travel management tools.

According to Alaska’s website, the Atmos for Business program will eventually replace EasyBiz, although details on potential changes have yet to be disclosed. Bookings through Atmos for Business are expected to commence in September 2025, but you can explore the new portal using your EasyBiz credentials now.

Book a Cruise

Earn Atmos Rewards Points with Additional Partners

Your everyday purchases can also help you accumulate more Atmos Rewards points, thanks to partnerships with various companies for shopping and dining.

The points you earn from these activities are in addition to those from the card used for payment, so choose wisely — for instance, selecting from top dining cards or best online shopping cards.

Atmos Rewards Shopping

Through Alaska Airlines’ shopping portal, Atmos Rewards Shopping, members can earn points by shopping online at more than 1,100 retailers when navigating through the portal. You can also install the Atmos Rewards Shopping button on your browser for alerts on points-earning opportunities.

In-store offers linked to your credit card also allow you to earn extra points while shopping in person.

Atmos Rewards Dining

By setting up an Atmos Rewards Dining account and linking a credit card, you’ll automatically earn points when dining at participating restaurants.

Members can earn up to 5 points per dollar spent, based on membership status. Basic members earn 1 point for every $2 spent. Signing up for email alerts boosts you to Select member status, earning 3 points per dollar spent. Dine at 11 participating restaurants within a year to reach VIP status and earn 5 points per dollar spent.

Additional points may also be earned through restaurant reviews or promotions. For instance, as of now, newcomers can receive 500 bonus points for joining and spending $30 in their first month.

Other Partners

Atmos Rewards partners with various other companies, offering points for everyday purchases and other activities such as surveys. These partners include:

  • 1-800-flowers.com
  • Teleflora
  • The Opinion Terminal
  • Carrs-Safeway
  • E-Rewards
  • Diners Club International
  • Greenlight
  • GCI
  • Harry & David
  • Laithwaites
  • Rate

Many of these transactions qualify for status points. For more details, visit Alaska’s “Everyday Partners” page.

Purchase Alaska Miles

If you’re short on Atmos Rewards points, the program allows purchases at an eye-catching rate of 3.5 cents each. While this exceeds the estimated value of 1.5 cents per point, acquiring points for a specific redemption may still make sense, especially during promotional offers.

Conclusion

With numerous ways to earn Atmos Rewards points (and elite status) beyond flying, including through travel, credit card spending, shopping, and dining, you don’t need to be a frequent Alaska Airlines traveler or heavy spender to collect enough points for noteworthy rewards, like a business class flight to Japan.

A standout feature of the Atmos Rewards program is the ability to choose your points-earning method for flights, starting in 2026. Consider your travel needs and select the earning approach that aligns best with your plans.
