Vero Beach, located along Florida’s Atlantic coast, is set for a significant boost in air travel options.
Last week, American Airlines announced plans to introduce nonstop flights between Vero Beach Regional Airport (VRB) and its major hub at Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) starting February 12, 2026. This is a landmark development, granting Vero Beach travelers access to American’s extensive global network via Charlotte, along with numerous connections throughout the U.S. and beyond.
The flight will operate daily year-round, serviced by PSA Airlines, a subsidiary of American Eagle, utilizing a Bombardier CRJ-900 regional jet. This aircraft offers 12 first-class seats and 64 economy seats, with 24 featuring extra legroom.

In recent years, Vero Beach has been expanding its commercial air service offerings, transitioning from primarily a general aviation airport. This shift began with Breeze Airways, which introduced service from Vero Beach to Hartford, Connecticut, and has since significantly expanded to seven Northeast destinations. Vero Beach is now home to a Breeze operating base.
Meanwhile, established airlines are increasingly entering the Vero Beach market. Last month, JetBlue announced new flights from Boston and New York scheduled for December. With American’s new connection to Charlotte, the city will enjoy direct access to a major airline hub for the first time.

For American Airlines, this new route adds another destination to its extensive Florida network, where it is already the leading carrier by departures, largely due to its operations in Miami.
“Enhanced connectivity is vital for our local businesses, residents, and tourism, helping maintain a robust and prosperous community,” stated Todd Scher, director of Vero Beach Regional Airport.
