The Edit by Chase Travel: Get elitelike perks without status

Having elite status with a hotel chain can enhance your travel experience, but you don’t need that status to access additional perks during your next hotel visit.

Many credit card holders can enjoy similar benefits by utilizing programs like American Express’ Fine Hotels + Resorts, Capital One’s Premier and Lifestyle Collections, as well as Citi’s Hotel Collection and The Reserve (formerly Luxury Collection).

Chase also has a collection of premium hotels under its The Edit by Chase Travel℠ program.

Booking a stay at one of Chase’s The Edit properties can yield significant advantages. In fact, prices tend to be comparable whether you book directly with the hotel or through Chase Travel.

Here’s a look at the advantages of reserving through this platform.

What is The Edit by Chase Travel?

The Edit by Chase Travel provides select cardholders with elite-like benefits at over 1,000 hotels, resorts, lodges, and spas worldwide. The properties available through The Edit consist of both branded and independent accommodations.

To make a reservation via this program, you must hold an eligible card.

Benefits and Perks of The Edit by Chase Travel

When booking through The Edit by Chase Travel, prices are usually similar to direct hotel rates, though there may be some variations. The perks received with eligible Chase card purchases can often offset price differences. With each booking through The Edit, you enjoy:

  • Daily breakfast for two
  • A special benefit valued up to $100 (varies by property, often including a meal, spa treatment, or airport transfers)
  • Complimentary Wi-Fi (when available)
  • Room upgrades at select properties (subject to availability)
  • Early check-in and late checkout at select properties (when available)

Statement Credit for Sapphire Reserve Cardholders

Holders of the Chase Sapphire Reserve and Chase Sapphire Reserve for Business can receive up to $500 annually ($250 biannually) in statement credits for prepaid bookings of two nights or more through The Edit.

Simply use your eligible Sapphire card at checkout to access this credit. It could cover part or all of a weekend escape or staycation.

Note: Sapphire Reserve cardholders who applied before June 23 will not have access to this new credit until October 26.

Beginning January 1, 2026, The Edit credit will offer greater flexibility, with a credit of up to $250 for each two-night prepaid booking, up to a total of $500 annually. This allows cardholders to utilize their entire credit at their convenience rather than in two separate halves.

Additionally, both consumer and business Sapphire cardholders will get an extra $250 statement credit for select prepaid hotel bookings in 2026 with various brands.

  • IHG Hotels & Resorts
  • Minor Hotels
  • Montage Hotels & Resorts
  • Omni Hotels & Resorts
  • Pan Pacific Hotels and Resorts
  • Pendry Hotels & Resorts
  • Virgin Hotels

If you’re new to The Edit by Chase Travel and hold a Sapphire Reserve card, this credit is a great way to explore new accommodations or revisit old favorites.

How to Use The Edit by Chase Travel

To make a booking, log in to Chase Travel. Enter your destination, dates, and number of guests in the search boxes at the top.

CHASE

After selecting a hotel, review the benefits available with The Edit. Once you’re ready, choose your room type.

CHASE

During checkout, you can pay with cash, points, or a mix. Using your Chase Sapphire Reserve or Chase Sapphire Reserve for Business allows you to earn 8 points per dollar spent.

CHASE

You must use your eligible Chase card to book your stay. Prepayment is required to utilize your Sapphire Reserve The Edit credit.

Also, be aware of individual property cancellation policies, additional hotel fees, and specific benefits, as some amenities may vary by location.

Will I Earn Elite Status or Loyalty Benefits?

Cardholders of the Chase Sapphire Reserve and Chase Sapphire Reserve for Business who book through The Edit may still receive loyalty benefits and earn elite night credits with hotel chains.

CHASE

Properties eligible for loyalty benefits will be highlighted during your search. For instance, the Thompson Central Park New York is noted as “World of Hyatt eligible.”

Is The Edit by Chase Travel Worth It?

The Edit by Chase shares similarities with Amex’s Fine Hotels + Resorts program, but it offers less guaranteed late checkout and less valuable experience credits.

Other programs like Capital One’s Lifestyle Collection and Amex’s The Hotel Collection provide less extensive benefits compared to The Edit by Chase Travel.

NIMB HOTEL

Booking directly often provides access to more rate options, including AAA, AARP, and corporate rates, as well as eligibility for elite benefits if you’re a member. If breakfast is included as part of an elite benefit, booking directly might be more economical.

However, The Edit by Chase Travel generally offers significant benefits, so we recommend comparing different booking strategies to ensure you receive the best value for your stay.

When to Use The Edit by Chase Travel

There are several instances when booking through The Edit by Chase Travel is advantageous.

Short Stays

One of The Edit’s main attractions is the property credit, typically offered per stay rather than nightly. Therefore, for short stays, this benefit can offer significant value.

Consider booking a property through The Edit for one night at the start or end of your trip to maximize this advantage.

Boutique and Non-Chain Hotels

Using The Edit can provide elite-like benefits at boutique hotels not affiliated with any loyalty program, enhancing your overall experience.

Someone Else is Paying

If your employer or someone else is covering your expenses, the price may not be a concern. Booking through The Edit could allow you to take advantage of the program’s perks for business travel.

Travelers Without Elite Status

Booking through The Edit gives you many elite status-like perks. If you don’t hold top-tier elite status at a brand, this could provide more value, especially considering the breakfast benefit.

Bottom Line

Leveraging your points for hotel stays often helps save money, but there are instances when points may not be the best option. By using The Edit by Chase Travel, you can access valuable benefits even without elite status.
