If you’re considering a trip to Rome in summer 2026, pause everything and secure your reservations at Thompson Rome. Conveniently situated near Piazza Venezia and the Pantheon, the hotel is available for bookings starting May 31, 2026, as per the hotel’s website.
You might remember that Flying Frugal included Thompson Rome in our list of “most exciting hotel openings of 2025.” Although the opening date has been delayed, Hyatt has confirmed that this 69-room Category 8 property will welcome its first guests by the end of May.
Thompson is among my top Hyatt brands, particularly the Thompson Madrid and The Cape, A Thompson Hotel. These hotels are housed in stunning buildings with distinctive flair and equipped with all the modern amenities you expect from a luxury establishment. Their design often leans toward a masculine aesthetic, featuring warm earth tones and inviting, club-like furnishings.
While Thompson Hotels operates a relatively small collection (19 properties, including Thompson Rome and the upcoming Thompson Shanghai Expo), it’s definitely worth keeping on your radar.
Thompson Rome boasts a rich history; it was previously the national headquarters for Italy’s Communist Party. Its standout feature will soon be the stunning rooftop bar on the seventh floor, offering panoramic views of the Eternal City.
The hotel will also feature a signature restaurant and bar, along with a fitness center.
