Am I Eligible for the Citi Strata Elite’s Welcome Bonus?
If you’re interested in applying for the Citi Strata Elite to claim the impressive welcome offer, you might have some questions related to bonus eligibility. We’ve got you covered with some frequently asked questions.
What Credit Score is Required for the Citi Strata Elite?
Flying Frugal recommends a minimum credit score of 670 for approval of the Citi Strata Elite. However, some individuals with lower scores may also qualify.
If your credit score is on the lower side or you’re still building your credit history, it might be better to consider a starter card first.
What Are Citi’s Application Rules for New Cards?
Generally, Citi does not restrict the number of cards you can hold from the bank.
However, your total credit limits across all Citi cards may be capped. If you encounter any issues, a quick call to Citi’s reconsideration line may help you secure approval by transferring credit from an existing card. You can check your application status by calling 1-866-606-2787.
Citi also limits how frequently you can earn a welcome bonus on its cards. If you’ve received a bonus for one of Citi’s cards, you’ll need to wait 48 months before being eligible for another welcome bonus.
This, however, does not affect new applicants for the Citi Strata Elite since it is a new card.
What If I Already Hold Other Citi Cards?
Even if you have other Citi cards and have earned bonuses previously, you’re still eligible for the Citi Strata Elite bonus. This includes individuals who hold the Citi Prestige card, which is great news for existing Citi cardholders.
Can I Apply for Both the New Citi Strata and the Citi Strata Elite?
As part of the Citi Strata Elite news, the Citi Rewards+® Card has been rebranded to the Citi Strata℠ Card (see rates and fees).
The information for the Citi Rewards+ Card has been gathered independently by The Points Guy. The card details on this page have not been reviewed or provided by the card issuer.
The Citi Strata is a no-annual-fee card that earns Citi ThankYou Rewards points and features its own welcome bonus. New applicants can earn 30,000 bonus points after spending $1,000 in the first three months of account opening.
If you’re looking to accumulate collectible Citi ThankYou Rewards points, it’s possible to apply for both the Citi Strata Elite and the Citi Strata, with eligibility for both bonuses.
Keep in mind that you can only apply for one Citi card (personal or business) every eight days, and you won’t be approved for more than two cards within a 65-day period.
The only conditions are that you cannot earn the welcome offer on the Citi Strata if you received a new bonus for the Citi Rewards+ in the past 48 months or converted another Citi card into a Citi Strata or Citi Rewards+ account within that timeframe. These restrictions do not apply to the Citi Strata Elite.
