A standout feature from the significant overhaul of the Chase Sapphire Reserve® (check rates and fees) and the unveiling of the Chase Sapphire Reserve for Business℠ (check rates and fees) earlier this year is the introduction of Points Boost.
Flying Frugal has highlighted the benefits of Points Boost extensively as it offers a fresh and valuable way to utilize your Chase Ultimate Rewards points—particularly at The Edit by Chase Travel℠.
However, recent changes to some redemptions mean you should act quickly to secure the previous value.
As first noted by Frequent Miler (via Reddit), Chase has revised its language to state that Points Boost redemptions are now valued at “up to 2x when booking a hotel part of The Edit.” Our recent searches confirm this change: while certain hotels still offer a redemption value of 2 cents per point, others have diminished to 1.65 cents per point.
Fortunately, Chase is extending the former redemption value, maintaining the 2 cents for all bookings through December 22, 2025.
Here’s what you need to know.
Understanding Points Boost
If you haven’t yet taken advantage of this feature, Points Boost enhances the value of your Chase Ultimate Rewards points to as much as 2 cents each when booking selected flights and hotels on the Chase travel platform.
The caveat is that Points Boost might not be available for every trip, as it applies only to specific properties and select flight itineraries. Additionally, the phrase “up to” means you may not always reach that 2-cent value.
However, an exceptional instance of this was The Edit, Chase’s curated collection of premium properties that provide added benefits like breakfast for two and a $100 property credit when booked through Chase Travel. Think high-end hotels like Four Seasons and Ritz-Carlton, along with more accessible options like Thompson and J.W. Marriott.

Additionally, the June update introduced a new benefit specifically for these locations. Cardholders can now receive up to $500 in statement credits on prepaid stays of at least two nights at The Edit properties (up to $250 from January to June and another $250 from July to December for 2025) — this benefit became effective for long-time cardholders like us on October 26.
Best of all, you can book The Edit properties using a mix of cash and your Chase points, allowing you to stack statement credits (triggered by partial cash payment) with Points Boost to redeem your points at 2 cents each for the rest of the stay. It’s a fantastic method for maximizing rewards and perks.
While you can continue to use this strategy, the era of consistent redemption values may be waning at these properties.
Data Insights
We analyzed 150 properties worldwide, including major cities like London, Singapore, and Sydney, as well as popular vacation spots like Hawaii, Bora Bora, and the Caribbean. The findings showed that 59% of the hotels and resorts now offer a Points Boost redemption value of just 1.65 cents, while 41% retain the previous value of 2 cents.

For instance, in Hawaii, we found 19 properties in The Edit available for a three-night stay in March 2025. Only eight of these retained the 2 cents per point value, including the Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea and the Ritz-Carlton Oahu, Turtle Bay. The remaining 11 properties were listed at 1.65 cents per point, meaning your points are worth 17.5% less at a number of Hawaiian locations, including the Andaz Maui.
That said, it’s still a decent redemption option—higher than previous fixed values prior to the card’s revamp. However, it’s a noticeable decline from a consistent 2 cents.
For now, there’s a brief opportunity to enjoy the higher redemption value across all properties in The Edit. A spokesperson from Chase remarked:
“Some of our Chase Travel content marketing the 2x points boost promotion for The Edit remained in market longer than intended. We will proactively honor 2x points value for any customers who book a stay at a property in The Edit through December 22, 2025. Customers will see the points adjustment in their Ultimate Rewards balance. For full information, the terms of the Points Boost program are available here.”
This allows you limited time to book stays at eligible properties and secure a redemption value of 2 cents per point. After December 22, redemption values may fall.

While it’s great to have some advance notice and a few extra days to book at the higher rate, the end of the grace period could signal a trend we’ve witnessed before. Once variable pricing comes into play, it generally complicates the ability for travelers to effectively “save up” for significant trips and maximize the utility of their points.
That said, there are still various strategies to maximize Points Boost redemptions. Many airlines continue to be available for up to 2 cents per point, and you can easily filter on the Chase Travel site to view options that qualify for Points Boost, though you may need to calculate the value you’re receiving.
Ultimately, our advice remains unchanged: earn and utilize your rewards wisely.
Credit card issuers and travel loyalty programs will constantly adjust their offerings, and there’s no guarantee that the value you see today will remain tomorrow. If you discover a redemption that offers exceptional value, seize it.
We appreciate Chase’s decision to maintain the 2-cent redemption value through December 22, and many properties will continue to provide that value going forward. Nevertheless, now is the prime time to secure a Points Boost reservation at one of these locations to maximize the value of your rewards and enjoy a luxurious experience.
