For travelers seeking a quick snack between flights, American Airlines has introduced an innovative option.
The airline has launched its inaugural grab-and-go lounge, dubbed Provisions by Admirals Club, at Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT). Spanning approximately 2,000 square feet, this lounge allows passengers to quickly grab refreshments on their way to the gate, whether they’re in need of a snack or a coffee.
Notably, there are no tables or seating provided for guests, and power outlets for electronic devices may be scarce.
Provisions is situated in a previously unused area adjacent to Gate A1 at CLT.
The primary feature of this location is personalized flight assistance, available from two staff members who can address day-of-travel inquiries or irregular operations.
For food options, breakfast is served from 6:15 a.m. to 11 a.m., followed by all-day selections from 11 a.m. to 10:45 p.m.
In the morning, you can find packaged snacks, pastries, yogurt, and fruit, which will transition into both sweet and savory treats throughout the afternoon and evening, alongside meal boxes available all day.
If you’re in need of caffeine, consider looking elsewhere. While drip coffee and tea will be available, there won’t be any baristas or espresso machines on site.
Beverages will include various canned and bottled non-alcoholic options as well.

As for access, Provisions follows the same entry rules as any other Admirals Club, so be sure to check if you qualify.
Grab-and-go lounges are becoming increasingly popular, with airlines like Air Canada and United also investing in similar spaces. Credit card issuers are getting involved too, featuring takeaway options at Capital One Lounges and Amex’s new faster Centurion Lounge experiences at upcoming Sidecar locations.
At CLT, American Airlines makes its first move into this grab-and-go concept with Provisions.
While I haven’t yet visited this new space, images suggest it appears less inviting compared to competitors. I’ll reserve my final assessment for a full review upon my visit, but credit goes to American for their swift rollout. The announcement came on July 15, with the lounge opening by August 19 — just over a month later.
It’s true that transforming a space near a gate holdroom doesn’t require extensive effort. However, having more options in Charlotte, the airline’s second-busiest hub with heavy connecting traffic, is certainly beneficial.
