Transfer bonuses present excellent opportunities to enhance your points and miles, helping you achieve remarkable award redemptions. During these bonus periods, you can often extract significantly more value by transferring your rewards to an airline or hotel partner.

Keep in mind these offers are time-sensitive, so you’ll want to act quickly if you discover one that aligns with your travel plans.

We’ve gathered updates on transfer bonuses for most prominent programs with transferable rewards to simplify tracking these opportunities. Do note that transfer bonuses can be targeted, meaning some may not be accessible to everyone.

Chase Sapphire Reserve®: Earn 100,000 bonus points and a $500 Chase Travel℠ promo credit after spending $5,000 within the first three months of account opening (see rates and fees).

Current Credit Card Transfer Bonuses

Here are the latest transfer bonuses available:

Transfer From Transfer To Bonus Details End Date
American Express Membership Rewards Hilton Honors up to 30%; targeted No expiration date disclosed.
Capital One Miles Avianca LifeMiles 15% Aug. 31
Chase Ultimate Rewards Marriott Bonvoy 50% Aug. 15
Citi ThankYou Rewards Leaders Club 25% Aug. 23

American Express Membership Rewards Transfer Bonus

American Express is running a targeted transfer bonus of up to 30% to Hilton Honors. Although this offer lacks a defined expiration, check your account to see if you qualify.

Typically, Membership Rewards points transfer to Hilton at a 1:2 ratio. Several Flying Frugal staff members have received the 30% bonus, allowing 1,000 American Express points to convert to 2,600 Hilton points. Some members only received a 25% bonus, translating to 1,000 points equating to 2,500 Hilton points. Since Hilton employs dynamic pricing, the number of points required for a stay may fluctuate based on timing and other variables.

Ways to Earn American Express Membership Rewards Points

If you aim to accumulate more points, these American Express cards could be beneficial:

  • The Platinum Card® from American Express: Check your offer; you might be eligible for up to 175,000 Membership Rewards points after spending $8,000 in the first six months. Welcome offers vary.
  • American Express® Gold Card: See if you qualify for up to 100,000 Membership Rewards points after spending $6,000 within six months of card membership. Welcome offers differ.

Capital One Transfer Bonus

Capital One is offering a 15% transfer bonus to Avianca LifeMiles until August 31.

LifeMiles are an excellent way to book premium cabin travel with Star Alliance partners like Lufthansa and United Airlines. With no fuel surcharges, frequent award sales, and discounted mile purchases, LifeMiles can provide substantial value, particularly for business- and first-class long-haul flights.

Ways to Earn Capital One Miles

To accumulate more miles, consider the following Capital One cards:

As per Flying Frugal’s August 2025 evaluations, Capital One miles are valued at 1.85 cents each, with most transfers processed instantly. For more information, refer to our guides on Capital One partners and transferring miles.

Chase Ultimate Rewards Transfer Bonus

Chase is currently offering a 50% bonus on transfers to Marriott Bonvoy, valid until August 15.

Given that Flying Frugal values Marriott points at 0.7 cents and Chase points at 2.05 cents according to our August 2025 valuations, transferring Chase Ultimate Rewards points to Marriott Bonvoy may not be advisable, as it might result in value loss. However, if you need a few points to finalize a redemption, it could be worthwhile. As always, run the numbers and check availability before transferring points, as transfers cannot be reversed.

Citi ThankYou Rewards Transfer Bonus

Citi ThankYou Rewards is offering a 25% bonus for transfers to The Leading Hotels of the World’s Leaders Club. Typically, Citi ThankYou points transfer at a 5:1 ratio to this partner, but the bonus improves this to a 4:1 rate.

While this may appear less favorable, Leaders Club redemptions start at just 4,000 points and grant access to luxury properties globally, making it worth considering.

Should You Transfer Points or Miles?

We recommend transferring points or miles only if you have a short-term redemption plan. Many programs have experienced devaluations in recent years, so speculative transfers could be unwise. Remember that transfers are irreversible, and you don’t want to find yourself with numerous points in a program that no longer serves your needs.

If you lack a specific redemption plan but wish to earn rewards, it’s typically more beneficial to focus on card welcome bonuses and everyday spending.

Always verify award availability before transferring your points.

Conclusion

When a transferable currency program offers a transfer bonus, it’s crucial to assess whether the transfer is valuable.

Generally, avoid transferring points or miles without a clear redemption goal in mind. The flexibility of transferable points is a major advantage, which you relinquish when you convert them. However, a transfer bonus can enhance the value of your points if you frequently use a partner program or plan to redeem soon.
