Since its debut in 2004, Gansevoort Meatpacking NYC has earned its reputation as the trendsetter in the chic Meatpacking District near Chelsea. After a significant $40 million renovation completed in 2021, the hotel unveiled revamped guest rooms, a redesigned rooftop, and a private members’ club in late 2024, reaffirming its status as one of New York City’s premier hotels.

Experience Gansevoort Meatpacking NYC

With its vibrant pink-and-white striped umbrellas and an entrance framed by lush greenery – a rare sight in NYC that adds to its laid-back charm – Gansevoort Meatpacking NYC is just a short walk from notable attractions like the bustling High Line, Chelsea Market, the Whitney Museum of American Art, and upscale boutiques.

My check-in was seamless, with two friendly attendants at the sleek black marble front desk. Within five minutes, I was on my way to my room. Surprisingly, the lobby never felt crowded during my two-day stay, despite its prime location.

Accommodations at Gansevoort Meatpacking NYC

Gansevoort Meatpacking NYC features 186 guest rooms, offering a variety of options from basic superior rooms and terrace queen or king rooms to deluxe options and lavish suites, including 23 unique suites designed by Poliform.
Upon stepping off the elevator, the decor immediately reflects the hotel’s connection to Manhattan’s Meatpacking District. Expect a blend of loft-style ambiance, cool colors echoing the Hudson River, and striking decor with bursts of color and contemporary art.

My deluxe room, spanning 300 square feet, felt spacious by NYC standards. As the golden hour bathed the room in warm light through my bay window facing the Hudson River, I enjoyed a stunning view of the sunset, enhancing the room’s rich mahogany furnishings.
The room was equipped with a comfortable queen bed, adorned with soft linens under a beautiful wooden headboard, matching bedside tables with sleek lamps, and ample outlets.
A leather-topped work desk graced the south wall, located beneath a wall-mounted flat-screen TV, with a stocked minibar below. A highlight was the Lululemon Studio Mirror, perfect for in-room workouts, though a gym is also available.
A cozy couch, convertible into a full-size bed, was nestled by the bay window, creating a tranquil nook for enjoying morning coffee or a nightcap while watching the city’s skyline.

The design featured whimsical touches reflecting the hotel’s artistic neighborhood, like pop art pillows, Marshall speakers, and a Banksy coffee table book.
The compact yet functional bathroom was stocked with fluffy towels, a bathrobe, and refreshing Grown Alchemist bath products, and included both a rainfall shower and a hand-held wand.

Overall, I found the room incredibly comfortable and thoughtfully curated, complete with playful accents, but the breathtaking bay window view made it difficult to leave.
Dining at Gansevoort Meatpacking NYC
The hotel offers four dining venues: Le Coin, Saishin, Coffee + Cocktails, and Gansevoort Rooftop.
Coffee + Cocktails
Breakfast at Coffee + Cocktails, with both indoor and covered patio seating, captures major European coffee shop vibes. The menu spans breakfast, all-day selections, aperitifs, cocktails, Champagne & wine, and a happy hour menu. I thoroughly enjoyed a cappuccino ($7), a flaky almond croissant ($5), and a fruity acai bowl ($18).

While I didn’t fit a cocktail session into my schedule here, I recommend visiting during happy hour — and snagging an outdoor spot, if possible (reservations are wise, as I noticed a wait each day).
Le Coin
The vibrant Le Coin, with its eye-catching pink-and-green striped decor, is on the hotel’s ground floor at the corner of 13th Street and Ninth Avenue. The lunch and dinner menus feature dishes inspired by classic Parisian fare and the coastal cuisine of France, offered indoors or outdoors under bistro umbrellas.

Dinner was delightful, with highlights including East Coast oysters with a tangy mignonette ($21) and a New York strip ($43) served with decadently rich bordelaise and unforgettable potato gratin.

Don’t miss the exceptional cocktails; I highly recommend the effervescent Le Coin Speciale ($22), made with Belvedere vodka, St. Germain, grapefruit juice, and prosecco.
Saishin

Omakase dining is taken to new heights at Saishin, located on the rooftop. Guests can opt for either 14 or 19 courses of fresh sushi prepared right before them or select from an à la carte menu featuring otsumami, sizzling entrees, and sushi.
Gansevoort Rooftop
