At the end of 2023, Delta revealed plans to restrict the number of times American Express cardholders can access Delta Sky Clubs, a policy set to take effect in February 2025. Now, as February begins, these new limits are officially operational.
In this article, we’ll first outline the changes to Delta Sky Club access for Amex cardholders. Next, we’ll explain how to keep track of your Delta Sky Club visits each year. Here’s what you need to know.
Changes to Sky Club Access for Amex Cardholders
Holders of The Platinum Card® from American Express or The Business Platinum Card® from American Express will receive 10 Delta Sky Club visits per year. In contrast, those with the Delta SkyMiles® Reserve American Express Card or the Delta SkyMiles® Reserve Business American Express Card will be granted 15 visits annually.
All four cards allow access to Delta Sky Clubs upon arrival and during layovers within a 24-hour timeframe from your first entry. However, if you visit a Grab and Go location, you must wait three hours before you can enter a Sky Club or use another Grab and Go facility in the same airport.
The access limits for Amex Platinum, Amex Business Platinum, Delta Reserve, and Delta Business Reserve cards reset each year on February 1. If you hold multiple eligible cards, your visits can be combined. For instance, if you have both the Delta SkyMiles Reserve American Express Card and The Platinum Card from American Express, you’ll enjoy a total of 25 visits each year.
Additional visits can be purchased at a cost of $50 each. Alternatively, if you spend $75,000 on your card within a calendar year, you can enjoy unlimited Delta Sky Club access for the rest of that year and the entirety of the following status year. For example, if you reach that spending threshold in 2023, you’ll have unlimited access through January 31, 2027, when traveling on eligible flights.
As a reminder, you must be flying with Delta Air Lines on the day you intend to use the Sky Club. Specifically, if you wish to enter the Sky Club prior to your departure, you can do so within three hours of your flight’s departure. You can access Sky Clubs with your eligible Amex card at any time during a layover or after your arrival. However, basic economy tickets with Delta do not grant access. Additionally, there is a $50 charge for bringing guests into the Sky Club per person, per visit.
If you plan to downgrade or cancel your eligible Delta Amex or Amex Platinum card this year, make sure to utilize your visits before altering your account to maximize your card benefits. If you have multiple cards that provide access but intend to downgrade or cancel one, prioritize using the visits on the card you plan to change or cancel, preserving the others for travel later in the year.

Final Thoughts
If you value access to Delta Sky Clubs through your Amex Platinum or Delta Reserve card, be mindful of your remaining visit count throughout the year. This practice allows you to optimize your Sky Club access for when you truly need it. Additionally, if you possess multiple Amex cards that grant Sky Club access, consider when to change the card you use for entry to avoid incurring charges for extra visits.
