JetBlue is intensifying its presence in South Florida by launching several new routes from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) later this year.
The expansion, announced on Wednesday, brings back several international destinations, including some that JetBlue has never served before from Fort Lauderdale. Notably, Cali, Colombia will be a brand new addition.

As part of this expansion in the Sunshine State, JetBlue will also resume flights from FLL to Cartagena, Colombia; Aruba; Grand Cayman; and St. Maarten. Additionally, it will offer service to Guanacaste Province in Costa Rica for the first time. The airline is also increasing flights on nine other routes that include domestic, Mexican, Caribbean, and Central American destinations.
This is part of a series of expansions JetBlue has been implementing at FLL recently, reaffirming its commitment to the airport after scaling back operations in other regions of the country in 2024.
Before the recent announcement, JetBlue’s total departures from FLL were projected to increase nearly 6% in the final quarter of 2025 compared to last year, according to aviation analytics firm Cirium.
Targeting Competitor Spirit
The choice of routes for this expansion is particularly significant. JetBlue will overlap with its main competitor, Spirit Airlines, on 16 of the 18 new or returning routes announced. Spirit is currently facing financial troubles, being under Chapter 11 bankruptcy for the second time in less than a year, which has led to cutbacks in its flight schedules.
While JetBlue did not address Spirit directly—having previously attempted to merge with them—it emphasized its strengthened position at FLL:

Enhancing Service on Existing Routes
In addition to the new and returning routes, JetBlue also plans to enhance service on various domestic and short-haul international flights.
Destinations being upgraded from FLL include:

- Cancun
- Hartford
- Kingston, Jamaica
- Punta Cana, Dominican Republic
- San Jose, Costa Rica
- San Juan, Puerto Rico
- Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic
Booking Flights with Points
All these flights can be booked using JetBlue’s TrueBlue points.
Members with insufficient points can transfer flexible rewards from several major loyalty programs.
JetBlue’s Focus on Florida
JetBlue’s commitment to Florida goes beyond just Fort Lauderdale. Earlier this year, the airline announced a partnership with private rail operator Brightline, enabling passengers to book seamless air-and-rail connections across the state.
