May brings both excitement and anxiety. Summer is just around the corner—great news! But have you sorted out your summer vacation plans? Don’t worry; there’s still time to choose from our top destinations for June or even July.
May is also jam-packed with happenings, and you may have missed some crucial hotel updates recently. I was disheartened to learn of Hilton Honors’ devaluation, with certain luxury stays now costing up to 200,000 points per night.
On another note, Marriott has introduced its 37th brand, Series by Marriott. This new line aims to incorporate existing regional chains into the Marriott Bonvoy ecosystem, starting with a partnership in India.

IHG is flourishing in Australia

During my recent trip to Australia, I stayed at Crowne Plaza Alice Springs Lasseters and the well-regarded InterContinental Hayman Great Barrier Reef. Both hotels showcase IHG’s diverse presence in the region, and my experiences were delightful.
Now, IHG is ramping up its efforts in Australia with several upgrades and new openings: InterContinental will replace Crowne Plaza at properties in Coogee Beach, Melbourne, and Canberra; a fresh Hotel Indigo will debut in Canberra; the Voco Gold Coast is set for renovations; and by 2030, the InterContinental Melbourne The Rialto will be rebranded as the Regent Melbourne.
If you’re planning a trip to Queensland, the new Mondrian Gold Coast has just opened. Situated directly on Burleigh Beach, this chic hotel is a must-visit. Plus, via Ennismore’s “Dis-loyalty” program, guests can enjoy a 50% discount on rooms for the next three months.

With a passion for heights, I’m thrilled about the Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia at Comcast Center, now featuring a newly designed Sky Garden on the 45th floor. This space offers a unique mix of rooms, suites, and penthouses, complete with exclusive perks and an on-floor spa.
