Alaska Airlines has partnered with a new global airline, enabling Mileage Plan members to redeem miles for flights to and from destinations in the South Pacific, Asia, Australia, and more.

The Seattle-based airline has announced its collaboration with Philippine Airlines, the national carrier of the Philippines headquartered in Manila.

This partnership allows a complete “earn and burn” experience, meaning Mileage Plan members can book Philippine Airlines flights through Alaska’s platforms, earn Alaska miles, and use those miles for flights on either airline.

“Philippine Airlines is an excellent addition to our network of global partners, offering top-notch service and amenities,” stated Brett Catlin, Alaska’s Vice President of Loyalty, Alliances, and Sales. Here’s what you need to know about this new partnership.

The new collaboration is great news for Alaska fans looking to redeem miles or transfer credit card points to the Mileage Plan program.

Philippine Airlines currently services four U.S. locations from Ninoy Aquino International Airport (MNL) in Manila, including:

  • Twice-daily flights to Los Angeles (LAX)
  • Daily flights to San Francisco (SFO)
  • Three weekly flights to Seattle-Tacoma (SEA)
  • Five weekly flights to Honolulu (HNL)

Notably, Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Honolulu are key hubs for Alaska’s recent operations, including its merger with Hawaiian Airlines in 2024.

Now, beyond visiting Manila, travelers can connect to numerous destinations throughout the South Pacific, Asia, and Australia thanks to this partnership.

Philippine Airlines boasts a diverse long-haul fleet, featuring aircraft like the Boeing 777-300ER and the Airbus A350-900. Many of their wide-body jets also offer lie-flat business-class seating.

This partnership is particularly exciting because Alaska Airlines offers one of the most valuable loyalty currencies among U.S. airlines. Now, being able to redeem miles on an international carrier opens up new travel opportunities at competitive rates.

Alaska employs a distance-based award chart for partner awards, categorized into three zones. Note that the listed redemption rates are starting prices, meaning actual award costs could be higher.

ALASKA AIRLINES

With this new partnership, one-way flights in economy from the U.S. to the Philippines can start at just 37,500 Alaska miles, while business class tickets range from 75,000 to 85,000 miles.

How to Earn Alaska Airlines Miles

Additionally, due to the Alaska and Hawaiian merger, you can now easily transfer HawaiianMiles to your Mileage Plan once your accounts are linked. However, this transfer option will end once the two airlines establish a single joint loyalty program.

For now, you can also transfer American Express Membership Rewards points to HawaiianMiles and then convert those miles to Alaska. Even easier, if you have Bilt Rewards Points, you can directly transfer them to Mileage Plan at a 1:1 ratio.

Check out our detailed guide on all the ways to earn Alaska Mileage Plan miles.
