The Matrix Airfare Search by ITA Software lists prices starting at $649 for Regular Economy. If you use those dates on American Airlines, you should see a reprice of $449 for Basic Economy and $649 for Regular Economy.
American, British Airways, Finnair, and Iberia offer a $649 regular economy fare that includes ONE checked bag and a standard size carry-on.
They also have a $449 Basic Economy fare, which has the following limitations:
- NO advance seat assignments.
- DOES NOT include checked bags – fees are $75 for the first bag and $100 for the second.
- NO changes allowed.
- NO cancellations – if you cancel after the 24-hour risk-free period, the Basic Economy fare will have no value for future travel.
- Many online travel agencies do not clearly label these fares as BASIC ECONOMY.
Starting January 8, 2025, you’ll need an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) for entry into the United Kingdom. The ETA costs £16 for two years. You don’t need one if you’re only transiting through the UK and staying airside, but if you pass through border control, you’ll need it. Beware of scam websites selling ETAs for more than the official £16 from the UK government.
